Édouard Simon is Research Director at the French Institute for International and Strategic Affairs (IRIS) in Paris, specialised in matters relating to European security and defence issues, as well as industrial policy issues, notably for the arms sector.
Before joining IRIS, Edouard was Director of the Brussels office of the European think-tank Confrontations Europe from 2017 to 2020. He has previously been working for four years at the legal department of the Airbus Group where he took part in the creation a team dedicated to EU law, competition policy and legal lobbying.
He holds a PhD in European Union law from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University and a MBA from ESSEC Business School. In 2017, he defended his thesis entitled ‘Roles and functions of EU law in the integration of arms acquisition policies’.
