A new Erasmus Plus Sport Project SEE countries for the Integrity of football clubs (SEE–I)

8 avril 2020

This new Erasmus Plus Project was launched at Bucharest, 27-28 February 2020. The coordinating organisation, the National University of Physical Education and Sports Bucharest (Romania), with two academic partners, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) and the National Sports Academy Vasil Levski (Sofia, Bulgaria), together with the three non-academic partners, Play Fair Code (Vienna, Austria), Fair Play Code Hellas (Athens, Greece), Institute of International Strategic Relations (Paris, France), and Romanian Football Federation will act as sport integrity ethics bearers.

The SEE-I project intends to open a new focus on sport integrity and governance, dedicated to the level of professional and semi-professional football clubs. Considering the exploratory, multidisciplinary and complex nature of the subject, the project will enable to produce specialised knowledge and build more coherent and adapted exchange events, and awareness raising programmes. Because they address issues that concern all the European countries, the results of the project will be widely disseminated.

“Integrity is an important issue in sports and football had during the time a major problem in this direction. We are confident that through the SEE-I project, we will produce a useful outcome, which will have an impact at transnational level. We are looking forward to work on this programme in partnership with our European colleagues and to tackle some key aspects in order to improve the integrity of football” said Rareș Stănescu, the coordinator of this project.

“SEE countries for the Integrity of football clubs (SEE–I)” is a co-financed project by European Union, through Erasmus Plus Sport, and in the next two years will explore the structural weaknesses and the major threats to the integrity of football clubs.
