Didier Billion

Didier Billion is a Scientific Adviser at IRIS.

He holds a PhD in Political Science and is a certified teacher of History and Geography. A specialist in Turkey and the Middle East, he heads IRIS’s Middle East/North Africa Programme.

He is the author of several books and numerous articles on regional issues, and has also written a wide range of studies and consultancy reports for French institutions, including the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, as well as for French companies operating in the Middle East.

He joined IRIS in 1991 and went on to serve as one of its Deputy Directors until 2026, after having previously been Director of Studies, Director of Publications and Editor-in-Chief of La Revue internationale et stratégique.

He also teaches at IRIS Sup’, IRIS’s school of applied geopolitics.
