The Europe, Strategy, Security (ESS) programme aims to analyse both the transformations of the European continent in political, economic, and strategic terms, and to decipher the role of the European Union in the world. It is based on studies and consultancy notes, video and audio capsules, closed seminars, public conferences, and both initial and continuing training courses.

The work focuses particularly on: European integration in the fields of foreign and defence policy; the transatlantic relationship; collective security and the role of NATO; the strategic thinking, cultures, and priorities of European countries; developments in the international security architecture from the Mediterranean to the Baltic; concepts of power and strategy; and issues related to energy geopolitics and the ecological transition.
