Brahim Oumansour

Brahim Oumansour is an Associate Research Fellow at IRIS, where he heads the Maghreb Observatory. He also works as an expert in international strategy within the Defence, Security and Crisis Management and Prospective programmes at IRIS Sup’.

He obtained his PhD in 2014 from the Institute of Anglophone Studies at Sorbonne Nouvelle University-Paris 3.

He teaches a course on geopolitics and the practice of international relations at SUPii Mécavenir. Previously, he taught Comparative Political Systems and Business English at Paris-Est Créteil University and the University of Évry Val d’Essonne, respectively.

He is regularly invited as a consultant and speaker by a range of French and international institutions and media outlets.

His research focuses primarily on the Maghreb, as well as US foreign policy in North Africa and the Middle East. His particular areas of interest include public diplomacy and the role of non-state actors (NGOs, trade unions, interest groups, multinational corporations, etc.), as well as issues relating to terrorism, conflict management, and related matters.

He is the author of Algeria: A Diplomatic Resurgence (Eyrolles, 2023). He has also published in a number of French and international academic journals.
