The Board of Peace’s “creative ambiguities”
Director of Research, IRIS
This observatory responds to the challenge to the principles of multilateralism and to the need to establish mechanisms of international cooperation suited to the collective management of new global challenges.
It pursues four main objectives: to study and analyse, in full independence, the ongoing transformations of multilateralism and the emergence of new forms of international cooperation; to analyse the geopolitical and geoeconomic balance of power in the reshaping of international cooperation mechanisms; to foster an open debate among the key actors and to inform public opinion; to put forward proposals and directions for the evolution of multilateralism and the future of international cooperation.
By bringing together researchers and practitioners from different countries, the observatory pursues the following goals: regular production of analyses in various formats; interviews and hearings with major actors; the organisation of and participation in international seminars and conferences devoted to multilateralism and international cooperation; and constructive input to the public debate and to the knowledge of decision-makers and the media at national, European and international level.
