
Julia Tasse is a Senior Research Fellow at IRIS and Head of the Ocean Programme. She is also a member of the Scientific Committee of the Defence and Climate Observatory, a project funded by the French Ministry of the Armed Forces and led by IRIS.
Her research focuses on the interactions between the ocean, security and climate, ocean governance, and maritime affairs. She has specialised in maritime issues after working for several years on these topics with various organisations, including the World Ocean Council, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the French Development Agency (AFD).
She is a member of the editorial board of La Revue internationale et stratégique, coordinator of a special issue on maritime data, and author of Géopolitique de la mer (Eyrolles, 2022).
Julia Tasse holds a master in international relations and environmental policies from the Institut d’Études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po), a master in environmental sciences from the Université Pierre et Marie Curie and a bachelor in life sciences, major in genetics.
