Central Asia holds a pivotal role in the global nuclear energy landscape, both historically and strategically.
Today, approximately 50% of the world’s uranium supply originates from the region, primarily from Kazakhstan, positioning Astana as a key partner for nuclear-powered nations, including France.

The Dubai Declaration of 2023, which set the goal of tripling global nuclear energy capacity by 2050, has further elevated the region’s strategic importance in global energy security. Moreover, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan’s recent commitments to develop nuclear power plants on their own soil signal a shift that could reshape both the regional energy landscape and alter the broader geopolitical balance.
