“The US war on Iran is, thus far, consistent with how Donald Trump has used the military during his now more than five years in the White House. While he has not hesitated much to engage in quick operations including air strikes, piracy and abduction of heads of state, Trump has been considerably more reluctant to put significant numbers of troops in harm’s way or to embark on forever wars. That approach was central to his appeal to voters in 2024- and is going to be tested in Iran.”
