GENERATE – Géopolitique des énergies renouvelables et analyse prospective de la transition énergétique

deterThe GENERATE project (Renewable Energies Geopolitics and Future Studies on Energy Transition) was conducted in partnership with the French Institute of Petroleum and New Energies (IFPEN) and funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR). The project was launched in January 2018 and spanned a duration of two years.

Its aim was to analyse the economic, geopolitical, and technological implications of the global spread of renewable energies (RE). The research focused on three major issues central to this question: the criticality of materials used in energy transition technologies; the emerging geography of intellectual property in the renewable energy sector; and the challenges posed to the development model of hydrocarbon-producing countries within this evolving global context.
