On the eve of their 250th anniversary, the United States holds a central position on the global stage. Yet, domestically, the country appears more fragile than at any time since the Civil War: political polarisation is intensifying, ethnic, cultural, and religious tensions are increasing, and movements advocating greater autonomy or even secession are gaining traction in certain regions or states, drawing growing attention.
In response to these upheavals, the IRIS Political and Geostrategic observatory of the United States, with a permanent presence on the American East Coast, continues to provide in-depth analyses throughout the year, as it has in previous years. Post-election developments, the early months of the new Trump administration, as well as the ongoing economic, social, political, diplomatic, and military transformations across the Atlantic, are explored through briefs, conferences, and videos. These insights, provided by leading North American and French experts, aim to shed light on their implications for France, the European Union, and the world.
