The profound political, societal, and economic transformations taking place in Germany have created a new need for knowledge and analyses dedicated to Germany and the Franco-German relationship. The IRIS Observatory of Germany aims to address this need by producing studies on the changes occurring across the Rhine, as well as their economic, social, political, diplomatic, and military implications.

The IRIS Observatory of Germany seeks to stimulate debate and reflection by providing insights to public authorities, private sector professionals, and the general public on the evolution of contemporary Germany and its impact on Franco-German cooperation and the European Union. Its ambition is to influence public debates and support decision-makers in understanding political, economic, and societal processes in Germany through the publication of analyses and the organisation of events.

The Observatory’s work is designed to involve French and German contributors from diverse backgrounds (politicians, public officials, educators, researchers, etc.) to offer a multifaceted and original perspective on the issues addressed. By organising events that bring together stakeholders from both sides of the Rhine, it contributes to fostering closer ties and enhancing Franco-German exchanges.
