Conference organized by the ARES group in Brussels around two panels :

  • National perspectives on defence innovation dynamics ;
  • Towards a EU network of defence research and technology organizations ?

Building upon the recent ARES series of national comments “Defence innovations – new models and procurement implications”, this conference intends to contribute to the debate on the future of defence innovation in Europe. Keeping in mind the rich context (French presidency of the Council with stated ambitions on EU defence, HR/Head of Agency Borrell’s proposals for a strengthened role of the European Defence Agency in defence innovation including the establishment of a Defence Innovation Hub in EDA, ongoing EDF first calls for projects, etc.), the ambition of this event is (1) to shed some light on the ongoing dynamics that shape national defence innovation policies in order (2) to contribute to the reflection on the necessary coordination between these efforts across Europe.
