With the examples of Huawei and BYD, Western countries have realised that China is able to produce technological innovations with a worldwide impact. Those accomplishments are the result of a policy cleverly orchestrated by the Chinese government for several decades. The political leadership is the conductor which achieved to bundle all the necessary performers to form a “national innovation system”. And this system is capable of generating true innovation far beyond the two quoted examples. In this article, Professor Dominique Jolly answers to questions raised by Professor Georges Haour.
