Since 1974 : Institute for Scientific Information for Social Sciences Russian Academy of Sciences (INION) (junior researcher, senior researcher)
1982 : defended Ph.D. thesis in history on the subject "Franco-American relations in the Mediterranean".
Since 1988 : Head of the Department of Western Europe (INION)
Since 1996 : Head of the Centre for Global and Regional Studies (INION)
Since February 1998 : Director of the NATO Documentation Centre for European Security Issues
Since March 1998 : Deputy Director of the INION
In April 1999 : NATO Documentation Centre was renamed for the Centre for European Security Studies, since then Director of CESS
Since 1999 : Member of Presidium of the Russian association of European studies
Since 2002 : Member of Executive Council of Russian Unit of International Pugwash Movement
Since 2003 : Member of Expert Council at the Council of Federation
Since 2004 : Vice-President of Russian Association for Atlantic cooperation
Since 2006 : Member of EC of Executive Committee of International Political Science Association (IPSA)
